This standard focuses on the Flexural Toughness of Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) using a centrally loaded round panel. It is the definitive test for shotcrete liners in tunnel engineering. The primary metric is Energy Absorption (Joules) up to a 40mm displacement. To execute this correctly, the test machine must be capable of Closed-Loop Displacement Control. If the machine is run in Load Control, the specimen will explode at the first crack.
