Expert Commentary
Tensile Stress-Strain of Carbon and Graphite using Method A (Short Specimen). This is used when material stock is limited. The technical challenge is the Gauge Length measurement. Because the specimen is short, standard clip-on extensometers are too heavy. MTO recommends Video Extensometry (Non-Contact) to track the strain without physically touching the brittle graphite. This prevents knife-edge stress concentrations that lead to invalid data.
