This is the Accelerated Aging module. While largely an environmental soak/dry procedure, it is followed by mechanical testing (Flexure or Bond). The Engineer-to-Engineer takeaway is Retained Strength. MTO’s software allows for Batch Comparison, where the strength of control specimens is automatically compared to aged specimens to calculate the percentage of degradation. This is vital for boards used in exterior or high-humidity environments where moisture-driven swelling can permanently weaken the fiber-to-resin bond.
