The benchmark for Cleavage Strength of Metal-to-Metal Adhesive Bonds. This uses a split block specimen pulled in tension. The test is designed to measure the resistance of an adhesive to a concentrated opening force at the edge of a joint. MTO’s cleavage grips are designed with precision-ground pins to ensure the load is applied exactly at the prescribed distance from the bond line.
