Expert Commentary
Details the Shear Parallel to Grain specimen and fixture. This is the Step-Shear test. The jig must support the specimen step while a loading tool pushes the other half down. The technical challenge is the Shear Plane alignment. MTO’s fixture uses a lateral screw-clamp to hold the specimen against the vertical face of the jig, ensuring the shear occurs exactly parallel to the grain without any prying that would introduce cross-grain tension and lower the recorded strength.
