Governs the Breaking Force of Yarn in Skein Form. Unlike single-strand testing, this lea method tests a continuous loop of yarn. From an engineering perspective, the challenge is the Spool Effect. The loading reels must have a specific diameter and be free-turning to ensure tension is distributed equally across all strands in the skein. MTO provides specialized Skein Hooks with high-polish surfaces to minimize friction, which would otherwise create localized stress concentrations and lead to a premature cascading failure of the individual fibers, artificially lowering the recorded breaking tenacity.
