Known as the V-Notched Beam (Iosipescu) Shear Test for Composite Materials. This is one of the most complex shear tests. A double-v-notched specimen is loaded in a specialized jig that induces a pure shear state in the gauge section. The engineering requirement is Strain Mapping. MTO recommends Crossed-Strain Gauges or Digital Image Correlation (DIC) to capture the shear strain. This is a critical test for aerospace engineers to determine the In-Plane Shear Modulus (G12) of high-performance laminates.
